- The prevention of keyboard focus from leaving a specific area of a web page, e.g., a modal dialog or context menu. A focus trap is used to ensure that the user cannot unintentionally interact with elements outside the area of interest, until the focus trap is removed. When designed well, a focus trap can help a user, but it can also be a barrier if a user can never again leave the respective area.
