- A discontinued web browser. Mosaic was instrumental in popularizing the World Wide Web and the general Internet during the 1990s, by integrating multimedia such as text and graphics. Although not the first web browser (it was preceded by WorldWideWeb, Erwise, and ViolaWWW), it was the first browser to display images inline with text instead of in a separate window. Development on Mosaic started in 1991. ← Wikipedia
