- A cyberattack in which an attacker attempts to log into a large number of accounts using a small list of commonly used passwords. Instead of trying many passwords against a single account, the attacker “sprays” a few passwords across many different accounts. This method is often used to avoid account lockouts that typically occur after multiple failed login attempts.
