• A once-popular CSS hack allowing to apply declarations only to Internet Explorer 7 and below. The hack consisted of adding an asterisk (*) right in front of the property of a declaration so as to apply it in IE, while a declaration using the same—but “unprefixed”—property held for other browsers.
